Who is Champion?
Champion is a popular clothing brand known for their sportswear, especially hoodies, sweatshirts, and activewear. Founded in 1919, Champion started out making uniforms for college teams. Eventually, Champion rose to fame by inventing the first hooded sweatshirt. Major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Amazon carry their clothing. Champion is owned by HanesBrands Inc., which also owns brands like Hanes and Playtex. They have around 45 brick-and-mortar stores in the U.S. and internationally.

Is Champion Sustainable?
Yes, they do seem to follow some sustainable practices. According to their various sustainability pages, they aim to improve 10 million lives by 2030 through health, wellness, and diversity programs. Environmentally, Champion aims to reduce emissions, waste, and water usage, and plans to use 100% sustainable cotton and recycled polyester by 2025. They also work to minimize their environmental impact from production to product disposal, and make sustainability a core part of how they do business. Here are some of their many sustainability-related partnerships/certifications (I’ve included links to the evidence I could find):
Fair Labor Association Accreditation
Higg Index Leadership
Sustainable Apparel Coalition
Bluesign® System
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification
…and more!

Champion Clothing Review
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Cardinal / L / $27 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Honduras
Material: Various materials are listed in two places:
Product Page –
(Fabric) Body: 60% Polyester / 40% Cotton
(Rib) 65% Polyester / 35% Cotton
Care Label – 50% Cotton / 50% Polyester
Fit: I ordered based on the size chart provided and they fit loosely but well. I might go down a size if it was a tighter fit. They are generally comfortable, feel soft on the inside, are flattering, and are great for tall people. The ribbed pocket is a nice detail. See my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality of the material is decent, however, they are poorly made. Not only does the outer material feel rough, but the center seam that runs from the waistband to the crotch area is noticeably off-center, and I found several loose threads. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality rating standards.
Value: While inexpensive, they are NOT worth the price I paid! I could find better quality sweatpants elsewhere for a similar price.
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Fresh Tan / L / $48.99 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Honduras
Material: 82% Cotton / 18% Polyester
Fit: I ordered based on the size chart and it runs large, but as expected (I like oversized hoodies). I might order it 1-2 sizes smaller to wear it more form-fitting. The inside is soft and feels great. See my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality is pretty good. It has a nice, large, double-layered hood and the woven material has a nice texture – the stretchy ribbed panels on the sides are a cool touch too. I did notice a few loose threads, though. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality rating standards.
Value: It’s worth the price I paid!
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Black / L / $33 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Jordan
Material:
Fabric – 78% recycled polyester / 22% spandex
Crotch Lining – 90% recycled polyester / 10% spandex
Fit: I ordered these using the size chart provided and they run a size too big. The ankles are loose and there is too much fabric in the crotch. However, it does have pockets and the fabric is buttery soft. See my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality is pretty good. The fabric is soft and comfortable, not too thin, and they seem well made overall. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality standards.
Value: They are worth the price I paid!
Men's Clothing (by Joe)
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Washed Starlet Blue / L / $22.99 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Honduras
Material: 82% Cotton / 18% Polyester
Fit: I ordered based on the size chart provided and they are the right size but not the right fit for my proportions. They are too short, baggy and loose on the legs. When walking, the excess leg material rubs together and gets in the way. On the plus side, the fabric is soft, sturdy and comfortable. See my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality is pretty good. The material feels like a pair of thin but decent quality sweatpants and they are generally comfortable and not too heavy. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality standards.
Value: The price I paid seems reasonable for the right person!
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Navy / L / $21 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Honduras
Material: 100% Cotton
Fit: I ordered based on the size chart provided and they fit well. The fit is flattering, but the pockets are pretty shallow. Check out my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality of the material is decent, however, they are poorly made. They are sewn a little crooked and I see loose threads. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality rating standards.
Value: They are not great quality, but they are inexpensive, look good on the outside, and fit well enough. I think they are worth the price I paid!
Brand or Supplier Label: Champion
Color/Size/Price: Navy Blue / XL / $15 (Retail Price)
Country: Made in Honduras
Material: 100% Cotton
Fit: I ordered it based on the size chart and it fits well. The length is great, the fabric is breathable, and the arm length is just right. The cuffs are tight, which I like, and the branding looks good too. See my body measurements for size reference.
Quality: In my opinion, the quality is fine. The material is very thin, which makes it good for spring and summer. However, I see some poorly stitched spots. Check out my quality comparison and rating chart to see my current quality rating standards.
Value: It’s not amazing quality, but it fits well and is a great price. It’s worth the price I paid!

Champion Customer Reviews
Champion has a pretty low rating on Trustpilot. In summary:
Order Cancellations: Several orders were canceled due to “unavailability” but the items still showed as available online.
Randomly Shipped Items: Customers received random items even though their ordered items were unavailable, with poor refund processes.
Delayed Shipping: Numerous complaints about long shipping delays with little to no communication.
Unresponsive Customer Service: Multiple reports of unhelpful or unreachable customer service and unresolved issues.
Poor Product Quality: Complaints about poor quality materials, defective items, and misleading product descriptions.
I agree with the comments about poor product quality – these incidents/experiences are worth keeping in mind.
Is Champion worth it?
Here are the pros and cons:
I received my order and (later) refund in less than a week!
Shipping is free for Club Champion members and returns in the US are free!
They carry tall and extended sizes.
Many of their sale items can be returned.
The quality of their clothing is inconsistent. Some items are surprisingly poorly made while others are fairly well made. Based on my order, the lower the full retail price, the worse the quality of material and workmanship. It may be worth buying the more expensive items on sale rather than the cheaper ones.
The fit also seems inconsistent. Some items seem to run a little big, some are uncomfortable, and others fit well.
Bottom Line: Champion Rating
Champion offers affordable and stylish activewear with a focus on comfort and inclusivity, including plus-size and plus-size options. While some items, like the Reverse Weave Hoodie, are well-made and worth the money, others suffer from inconsistent quality and poor workmanship, especially on cheaper items. Shipping and returns are convenient, but customer service and quality control need improvement. If you stick to the higher-end products or special offers, Champion can be a great choice, but be wary of cheaper options. Rating: 6.5/10.
