Nest Fragrances Review

Nest Fragrances Review

A while back I bought this NEST New York fragrance gift set during a sale at Sephora. I love gift sets because not only do they make great gifts, but they’re a great way to try out different scents and see which ones you like best! It’s been a while since my last fragrance blog post, so I thought I’d review this set for you and give you a feel for the scents of these eight different fragrances. Although this set doesn’t seem to be available on the Sephora website anymore, I found a similar one here.

I also want to point out that all of the bottles are actually mini rollerballs, which is rather unusual for sets like this, but I absolutely love it and prefer it to a coffret.

If you’re looking for the perfect date night scent, look no further. This is such a feminine, inviting, warm floral scent that I can easily imagine it being worn by the independent, well-dressed businesswoman who has her life together and knows who she is when she goes out on the town on Friday night. This scent has base notes of black plum, pink pepper, and Japanese violet and is definitely one of my favorites in the whole set.

I’m not going to lie… this isn’t my favorite scent in this set. It’s not bad by any means, but I just find it a bit disappointing. It’s a pretty, powdery floral scent that I can imagine being worn by both young and girly people and mature and feminine people. Some of its notes are peony, rose, and lychee. I just find it a bit conventional and boring as far as florals go, but it would be a really nice everyday scent in the spring.

Wild Poppy is a bit more exciting in my opinion because it has a certain sweetness to it. In short, I would describe it as sugary floral. If you like Daisy Love Eau So Sweet by Marc Jacobs, then you’ll definitely like this one too. This scent has notes of rose, Himalayan jasmine, pear, raspberry and apricot. It particularly appeals to me because it smells like an exact high-end copy of this old Victoria’s Secret Body Mist called Such a Flirt that I wore every day one summer years ago. Scent memory is a powerful thing. Of course, I think this is the perfect summer scent I can imagine from someone who is carefree, spontaneous and fun. It’s for the girl who lives in the moment so she has a million incredible memories to look back on later.

This perfume competes hard for the title of my favorite in this gift set. I know my description doesn’t do it justice, and while I’ll try anyway, I highly recommend you plan a trip to a perfume counter or beauty store on your next shopping trip to smell it for yourself. Midnight Fleur smells mysterious and has a smoky note. It’s like a darker and sexier older sister to Black Tulip. With notes of amber, patchouli, exotic woods, vanilla orchid, and green apple, it’s for the badass woman with secrets who’s been through a lot but doesn’t share it with everyone. This is the scent worn by the woman you see at an exclusive after-party and just want to know more about because she’s so alluring, but you’re intimidated by her so you never approach her. You miss your chance and then she disappears, but you still think about her for the next week and a half. I’m obsessed.

This is for people who prefer fresh scents. If that’s you, I’d check out this scent in this set. Wisteria Blue can be described as a clean, crisp, fresh floral scent. It has notes of French wisteria, aquatic, Bulgarian rose, and jasmine. It’s not my personal favorite, but mostly because I tend to lean more towards vanilla, amber, and spicy gourmand scents rather than fresh and aquatic ones. Still, I like this scent and could see myself wearing it as an everyday scent. It reminds me of quiet rain in spring – clean, serene, and calming.

Sunkissed Hibiscus is another one of my absolute favorites, but it’s very different from some of the others. The only way I can describe this scent is that it smells like what I imagine sunshine to smell like. If someone could bottle the scent of me standing in a field of flowers with my eyes closed and the hot summer sun warming my face, it would be this scent. The scent notes include frangipani, orange blossom, and golden amber. This is the perfect warm, peaceful summer scent and I really can’t get enough of it.

This scent has given me the hardest time trying to describe it to people because I really can’t put my finger on what it smells like, but that’s what I love about it. If you’re looking for a complex scent with lots of layers, this one is for you. My first impression of this scent was completely off and completely confusing, so I had no choice but to research it simply because I wanted to know what it was. I found out that the notes are a mix of bergamot, spice, some citrus, and a woody note, which started to make sense in hindsight. I really don’t have anything similar in my collection. It’s so interesting and I really like it. Of all the scents in this set, this one is by far the most successful in terms of complexity, intrigue, and impact.

This one is like the less intense friend of Sunkissed Hibiscus and the more interesting friend of Dahlia & Vines. Citrine is a warm and inviting citrus scent with notes of lemon blossom, freesia, lotus flower, and morning dew. It’s also super versatile. I could see myself wearing it everyday, but also to an event or an evening out. If you are looking for a signature scent to accompany you through everyday life, no matter what the occasion, then you should definitely consider this one.
